Pasta

I cannot explain the entire history of pasta, but I can (and will) try to amuse you with some facts. Pasta was never discovered by Marco Polo ( as is the common misconception). What actually happened- on his journey, he came across a ‘pasta tree’- which we now know as sago tree. The flesh of sago tree is used to make starchy bread and in italian pasta means dough or paste, therefore it came to be known as ‘pasta tree’.

What I made is a less cheesy version of White Sauce Pasta. This is because the cheesy pasta can be too much some days when all you want to do is have a tasty but light breakfast (or snack).

  1. We start off with boiling the pasta and then straining it.
  2. Now put the boiled pasta immediately under cool water so it does not stick together while you are preparing your sauce.

Tip- put a little salt and oil while boiling the pasta

3. You can make the sauce either with vegetables or you can skip them too.

4. If you are incorporating vegetables then saute them and keep them aside to cool down (do not saute olives)

5. Saute the garlic in butter in a separate pan.

6. On medium heat, put butter, all purpose flour in equal proportions along with garlic and start cooking them.

7. Now, add milk to it and cook until you have a consistent sauce.

8. Put some salt and seasoning to this sauce.

9. Add a little malai (fresh cream) if you want and vegetables to this.

10. Our last step is to add the boiled pasta and a lot of Oregano. Do not forget salt.

Serve hot with Garlic Bread and garnish with some olives.
